WEST - Wilkes Education Scholarship Trust
Late President Cislyn Wilkes
Cislyn is the inspirational spiritual leader of WEST who, along with her late husband Randal Wilkes, was the driving force behind the charity being established. The charity continues their commitment over many decades of supporting disadvantaged people, particularly from the Black African Caribbean community.
Our mission statement
Wilkes Education Scholarship Trust (WEST) is committed to advancing the long-term life and employment opportunities for British African Caribbean heritage students, by offering scholarship grants to high potential BAC heritage students, particularly those from less well-off backgrounds seeking to undertake full time university level programmes of study.
Beneficiaries
British African Caribbean (BAC) heritage students will be the principal beneficiaries of the charities work. Successful applicants to WEST will receive a scholarship grant of up to £1,000 per academic year depending on university costs and available funding. Each year we aim to support up to 100 BAC high potential heritage students.
